July 25, 2020Thirty

This week I turned the big three-oh. While many might find this milestone daunting (and trust me – I've had my moments!) I've actually found turning thirty quite liberating. Summing up an entire decade is hard, especially in a few short paragraphs, so hang on in there. I'm going to try my best!

Plastic Free Periods + Reusable Sanitary Pads

December 29, 2019Plastic Free Periods + Reusable Sanitary Pads

Everywhere you look lately we're being told just how bad single-use tampons and sanitary pads are for our environment. With the average woman using an estimate of 16,000 disposable pads or tampons in their lifetime, more and more of us are turning to sustainable alternatives. Especially as they can take over 500 years to decompose too!

Switching to Natural Make-Up - Organic + Plant-Based Favourites

October 27, 2019Switching to Natural Make-Up - Organic + Plant-Based Favourites

Today I thought I would bring you some of my natural make-up favourites! Over the last couple of years, I've slowly been trying to switch out my conventional make-up products to something that's kinder to my skin and the planet.

Starting a Capsule Wardrobe + Not Buying New

Does anyone else think that autumn feels like the perfect time to regroup, get organised and declutter? Move over spring, there’s a new clear-out season in town!

Sustainable Reusable Cotton Pads

September 14, 2019Sustainable Reusable Cotton Pads

Did you know that most single-use wipes contain plastic? I wasn’t aware of this until very recently either! After watching the BBC documentary War on Plastic, I was shocked to find out that this was the case, and the amount of plastic in a ‘disposable' wipe can be as high as 84%! That’s insane. A lot of this plastic is non-biodegradable too. Apparently the plastic is what helps to make them stretchy and strong. Honestly, stretchy and strong is not something I want from a wet wipe. I just want something that will remove my make-up or clean my hands thanks.

A New Direction

August 31, 2019A New Direction

Hello lovely ones! As always it’s been a while. You may have noticed that over the last few years Heart + Bowl has stayed relatively quiet. There have been many reasons for this! So I thought today I would open up to tell you a little bit more about why that is, and hopefully let you in on some exciting news about why that might be changing.

Twenty Nine

July 5, 2019Twenty Nine

This month I’m turning 29! Yikes. Does this make me a grown-up now? I don’t feel very grown-up. While age is just a number and all that, I wanted to share the 29 things I’ve taken away from the past year. You may remember when I did this last year when turning 28?

Norwich Bloggers Event

July 18, 2016Norwich Bloggers Event

Last weekend, me and bestie blogger, Millie from Shabby Bear Co, attended the latest Norwich Bloggers networking event at The Mash Tun. I recently discovered Norwich Bloggers not so long ago, and I was so ecstatic to find a community like this in my local area! The July event also sounded amazing – with the chance to get to know new local bloggers, businesses and their products. Without a second thought – I bought a ticket.

Flu Fighting Tonic

November 8, 2015Flu Fighting Tonic

This season brings so many things I love. Knitted jumpers, leaves changing colour, cosy nights in, warm drinks – and don’t get me started on Christmas! But along with all that warm and fuzzy stuff, comes the horrors of cold + flu season. It’s unavoidable. Every year you think you’ve escaped getting ill, and then BAM, you’re sick.

Tea Blending Workshop @ Bluebird Tea Co.

September 27, 2015Tea Blending Workshop @ Bluebird Tea Co.

As soon as I stumbled across Bluebird Tea Co. a few months ago, I fell hopelessly in love. I was browsing for some loose leaf tea online, hoping to buy some for my mum as a birthday gift. Within seconds of landing on their site, I knew I had come to the right place. Bluebird had so many unusual and quirky looking blends on offer, I was completely spoilt for choice.

Filmore and Union Review

May 9, 2015Filmore and Union Review

Finding somewhere to eat in an unfamiliar city can feel like a daunting task for those of us suffering with food allergies, intolerances or just wanting to eat clean. Especially when you don’t want to revisit the generic gluten-free menus from the usual suspect big-name chains. I don’t know about you, but when I take a trip to a new city, I want to check out unique independents or local chains, places I wouldn’t be able to find in my local hometown. Sadly that’s become a real challenge when travelling, and extensive planning and research needs to be done. Before a trip to York with my partner, I apprehensively started googling places I could eat. Quite quickly I realised, I need not have worried… I found Filmore and Union.
